Joann Cummings, President

I was born and raised in South Jamaica, Queens. I started volunteering in the community at seven as a Girl Scout youth in the church, and I am still serving the community. I am a proud mother of two.

My passion has been giving back to my community, and I have advocated for children with unique educational needs and disabilities for over ten years.  I enjoy advocating for families as I help empower them with knowledge and confidence to navigate the special education process and obtain the services and resources their children need.

I have taught and assisted families of children with disabilities in obtaining mandated special education services. I attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and special education advocacy issues. I also conduct Special Education workshops.

I have a BA in Disability Studies and is a Fellow Board Certified Education Advocate.
